Christian Shaffer Benefit
Christian Shaffer is an 11 year old boy who is being treated for a very rare brain tumor.  He is undergoing radiatio and an experimental drug 5 times a week for 6 weeks.  The tumor is terminal but everyone is putting their faith in God and the experimental drug.  Visit his website to read his story and donate.  There will be a benefit on November 7th in Baytown at Pelican Junction to raise money and everyone's spirits. Dance Houston
Fresh Fridays Hosts 20 Houston Dance Groups @ Discovery Green. Dance Houston presents Home Grown Motion: a gathering of local dancers and the community. Dance Houston aims to raise awareness of dance in and around Houston and to make dance more accessible to Houston patrons.  They believe in working with local dancers who reflect the cultural diversity of Houston.  The heart of this organization is in coordinating festivals that bring together dancers of many styles.  Click here for more info.
Chinquapin School
The Chinquapin School has provided economically disadvantaged youths from the Houston area with the opportunity for a better future through education. Through its rigorous curriculum and emphasis on community service, Chinquapin produces responsible citizens are leaders in our community.  This is a scholarship-based school. 100 Club
Established in Houston, Texas in 1953, The 100 Club is a well-recognized organization within the communities it serves. The 100 Club began when 100 men, each contributing $100, wanted to help the families of Houston Police Officers that were killed in the line of duty. Enforcement Officers and Firefighters that protect you.

Walk for a Miracle 5k

Under the Children¹s Miracle Network fundraising umbrella, the walkathon will raise money specifically for Texas Children¹s Hospital in Houston, which has the nation¹s largest pediatric cancer and hematology program. The walkathon starts at 9 a.m., with check-in and registration beginning at 7:30 a.m. at the Woodforest Welcome Lodge, 101 Elk Trace Parkway. Early bird registration for the walk is ongoing now through Oct. 8. Cost is $25 for adults and $10 for children. Festival Of Lights
January 2, 2010 @ Moody Gardens
Festive sights and sounds will fill the air at Moody Gardens Nov. 14 through Jan. 2. Santa Claus will kick off the festivities on Nov. 14 by parachuting in to switch on a mile-long trail of more than one million lights. The festival will be celebrated on Thursdays through Saturdays between Nov. 14 and Dec. 16 and daily starting Dec. 17 through Jan. 2, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.  Admission is $5.95.
