Freshwater Report-

[Toledo Bend Reservoir] Bass fishing has been excellent in shallowprotected coves with shallow running crankbaits, spinnerbaits, and watermelon colored worms. Catfishing is excellent in 12 to 20 feet of water on rod and reel and troutlines. Things could change with water levels rising.

[Lake Buchanan] Striper fishing is excellent in fairly shallow water for this time of year with easy limits in 8feet of water. Hybrids are schooling with stripers are in the 18 to 22 inch class. Lake is rising and should continue to rise.

[Conroe, Livingston, and Rayburn no report]

Saltwater Report-

[ Galveston Bay] Trinity Bay has been red hot with bird action down the middle from north to south for loads of small Trout and nice Redfish with soft plastics and topwaters. Same goes for East Bay with some wadefishing going on along the south shoreline. [Lake Calcasieu] Bird action good on main lake for trout and redfish remain good along shallow flats and near the Weirs with bait and artificials.

[Sabine Lake] Trout action redhot under birds from the north end of the lake to down south along the Louisiana shoreline. Redfishing has been fair to good.

[ Matagorda Bay] East bay continues to produce good trout over mid-bay shell and under diving gulls with topwaters and soft plastics. West Bay is still producing good numbers of redfish for waders near Cottons and Greens. Remember November 1st the new flounder limits go in effect for just the month of November, 2 fish over 14 inches per day rod and reel only.

[Hunting update] Waterfowl hunting has been good in the Garwood area and a little spotty on the rest of the coastal prairies. Tons of Blue-Winged Teal have been reported from all locations with Gadwall, Widgeon, and Redheads taking up the slack for big Ducks.

Deer season opens tommorrow 11/7 and reports are good from all over the state from local hunters and outfitters. Rutting activity has been reported from east Texas, Odom area, and Sonora area. Quail season is also open with very small percentage of quail in covies. Most quail are paired up and still nesting with population outlooks are good for later in the season like January and February.

Good luck Hunting and fishing and remember safety first, Capt. Mick
